Age does not guarantee achievement, PT Manggala Usaha Manunggal proved that at the young age since 2 year of operations they succeeded in getting Award Mining Safety for Pratama Category.
Tarub Arinto Pramudyo, Deputy Operation Director PT Manggala Usaha Manunggal (PT MUM) welcomed the achievement of the company he leads. “We are very proud to get the award for two consecutive years in 2015 and 2016. Because what we have done was noticed by government institutions. This award will become monument and motivation considering that in 2017 production growth will be 400% with new 5 projects; with the foundation of safety implementation on the right track it is expected the company target will be achieved,” explained Tarub, a fans of Metal Music.
Tarub’s excitement is acceptable, considering that PT MUM is a coal mining contractor for Titan Infra Energy Group at BAS Project, where they have been in operation for two years. Even though the company is still at young age, they have already applied safety rigorously and continuously. Because of the commitment and seriousness from all employees the company received distinguished award in for mining safety.
Tarub asserts that award is merely a bonus, the most important thing is the safety culture from all employees are formed. PT. MUM as a mining contractor can’t detach themselves from safety commitment imposed by Titan Infra Energy Group.
According to Tarub, all employees of PT. MUM believe that safety is investment. He also believes that big plans will ruin if safety implementation is bad. “Because we believe that safety is closely related to discipline and character from to bottom and good safety implementation could increase company selling value, as proved by new 5 projects that are underway in 2017,” asserts Tarub. This becomes a matter of important concern considering that mining contractor can’t free themselves from risk management in which it contains safety and discipline guidelines.
At present, PT MUM has already own internal safety certification called Sapta Manunggal that constitutes compilation of SMKP, SMK3, ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001. “We summarized into seven elements in our internal system. Thus, if we applied Sapta Manunggal right, then automatically we had already fulfilled standard from those various system,” said Tarub.
Sapta Manunggal is internal safety system at PT. MUM, consisting of seven elements inside. Those seven elements are policy, planning, organization, implementation, evaluation and action, documentation and lastly is management review. “We aggressively push K3 so that it becomes culture since the beginning of the project in 2015. Every time we visit site, one of main voice we broadcast is about safety,” asserts Tarub.
Tarub affirm that return of good safety implementation is company performance in every aspect will increase. This becomes positive value for the company.
